JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Epic Willow Principal Trainer serves as the primary instructional designer and training environment builder for the organization's Epic Willow pharmacy application. This role is responsible for achieving an in-depth understanding of pharmacy software modules, hospital policies, and operational workflows to create tailored learning pathways for clinical and non-clinical users.
- The Principal Trainer develops environment and, manages the Epic Master Training (MST) environment, and manages the Credentialed Trainer (CT) program to support go-lives, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum & Content Development
- Design and develop comprehensive training programs and learning pathways tailored to various pharmacy roles (Inpatient, Ambulatory, and Technicians) using adult learning principles
- Create instructional materials, including structured lesson plans, training manuals, quick-start guides, tip sheets, and interactive e-learning modules
- Review and update curriculum regularly to ensure training documentation matches current system build and actual clinical workflows
Training Environment Management
- Build, configure, and maintain the Epic Master Training (MST) environment to ensure it accurately mirrors the live production environment
- Refresh and test patient data within the training environment, creating simulated clinical and medication-dispensing scenarios
- Troubleshoot complex environment issues and rebuild training patients or records following system upgrades or code fixes.
Program Leadership & Execution
- Lead and manage the Credentialed Trainer (CT) program, including training, mentoring, and evaluating CTs to ensure classroom instruction quality
- Coordinate training schedules and course logistics alongside training leadership and application project managers
- Conduct high-level training classes for super-users, pharmacy managers, and provider groups as necessary
Collaboration & System Optimization
- Partner with Epic Willow Application Analysts to understand system design changes and identify areas where end-user competence can be improved
- Analyze end-user performance data and support tickets to design targeted refresher courses or workflow optimizations
- Participate in system upgrade reviews, testing new application enhancements and developing implementation training planS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Minimum of Three (3) years' experience in Epic Principle Trainer Experience/Expertise
- Certifications – Required - Willow Inpatient Principal Trainer; Willow Ambulatory Principal Trainer - Training Environment Build (TED)
- Preferred Additional Experience - Willow Inventory - Specialty Pharmacy - Articulate for eLearning development
- Familiarity with using key project management tools and disciplines
- Strong communication and follow-up skills
- Ability to effectively manage human and financial projects
- Previous consulting experience highly desired

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sitting, talking, hearing and near vision are required over 90% of the time. Feeling is required over 90% of the time and reaching is required about 50% of the time. The ability to travel to field sites may be required up to 15% of the time.
WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Over 90% of the time is spent indoors, with protection from weather conditions. Exposure to noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable is present in only unusual situations.
