Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit. The position provides care for high-acuity patients with neurological, trauma, orthopedic, and medical conditions in an acute setting. Responsibilities include managing complex patient needs, titratable drips, tracheostomy and ventilator care, and telemetry monitoring.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; at least 2 years of medical-surgical, Progressive Care Unit, or intensive care experience, including experience in one of these settings within the past year.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend and holiday coverage required.
- Assignment Period: 11/23/2026–02/22/2027.
- Additional Information: The unit provides neuro-focused care for patients with strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, altered mental status, dementia, thrombectomies, and trauma-related injuries. Experience with titratable drips is required, including heparin, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, amiodarone, hypertonic saline, and insulin. Tracheostomy and ventilator experience is highly preferred; training on ventilators may be available for clinicians willing to learn. Floating may occur to sister medical-surgical units across multiple specialties. Orientation includes one general shift and one preceptor shift. Solid-color scrubs are required.
