Head of Lawncare Company: Canopy Lawncare

About the Role: Canopy Lawncare is seeking a driven, hands-on Head of Lawncare to lead our field operations and field technicians. At Canopy, we specialize in advanced soil health and premium turf management. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our field team, ensuring our crews deliver top-tier results across all our service lines. You will spend time both managing the team and working directly in the field, maintaining our high standards for turf care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Hire, train, and manage a team of lawncare technicians. Lead daily huddles, manage crew schedules, and foster a positive, high-performance team culture.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee the successful execution of our core treatment programs, including the 7-treatment "Healthy Lawn" package, the 11-treatment "Healthy Lawn Plus" package, Tree/Shrub Care, and Aeration/Seed services.
• Field Management: Work outside regularly to conduct quality control checks, audit technician performance, and assist in the field during peak seasons (such as fall aeration and seeding).
• Technical Oversight: Ensure all technicians are properly trained on turf agronomy, specifically Tall Fescue care, proper chemical mixing ratios, equipment calibration, and the application of fertilizers, weed controls, and fungicides.
• Client Communication: Act as an escalation point for client questions regarding their lawns. Communicate complex soil health and agronomy concepts to customers clearly and professionally.
• Specialized Services: Manage the execution of supplemental services, including carbon and lime applications, as well as tree and shrub treatments.

Requirements:

• Clean Driving Record: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history (non-negotiable).
• Outdoor Work Environment: Ability and willingness to work outside in varying weather conditions and perform the physical demands of the job alongside the crew.
• People Management: Proven experience managing, training, and motivating a team of field technicians or laborers.
• Exceptional Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to effectively communicate with your crew, upper management, and our clients.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong background in turf agronomy, soil chemistry, and lawn fertilization. Experience with cool-season grasses and pest/fungus control is highly preferred.
• Problem Solver: Ability to troubleshoot turf issues on-site and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
