Medical Surgical (MS) Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a skilled Medical Surgical (MS) Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position will primarily involve caring for observation patients and those with respiratory conditions, as well as general medical-surgical diagnoses. The RN will also engage with patients in palliative, end-of-life, and hospice care, alongside psychiatric observation and diabetes management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and develop care plans for patients with diverse medical needs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry data to manage patients' cardiac conditions.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social work.
- Float to other units as required based on census and staffing needs.
Schedule
This position requires a three 12-hour shift rotation from 07:00 AM to 07:30 PM, including every other weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry setting.
- Ability to pass an EKG exam during onboarding.
- BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred.
- Experience with EPIC charting system is mandatory.
- Previous charge experience is preferred.
Skills
- Management of patients with respiratory issues, including BiPAP/CPAP management.
- Administration of blood products and care for patients with colostomies/ileostomies.
- Expertise in IV management, including starting and maintaining IVs and managing PICC lines.
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and implement appropriate interventions.
- Experience with surgical drains and wound care.
- Proficient in isolation precautions and effective use of PPE.

This role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients exhibiting a variety of conditions, including:
- General medical and surgical diagnoses
- Palliative and hospice patients
- Psychiatric observation
- Management of new diabetes patients and complications
- Surgical patients requiring observation
