Access Associate

Job Title: Access Associate Department: Geneseo Medical Campus Location: 4302 Gateway Drive, Geneseo, NY 14454 Hours per Week: 40 Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays, 12-hour shifts, weekend rotations. Urgent Care is open M-F 9 am-9 pm / Sa-Su 9 am-8 pm. Summary In a customer-service-oriented manner, interviews patients and/or their representative to collect required registration data, including demographic and financial data, obtains signatures, conveys mandated patient information, verifies accuracy, conducts insurance verification, obtains precertification/authorization, collects co-payment, and communicates with patients regarding financial assistance needs. Responsibilities Manage incoming calls while providing necessary information. Greet patients and/or their representatives and provide direction as needed. Schedule and/or preschedule patient appointments. Interview patients and/or their representatives for necessary information and complete the registration process as defined by departmental policy. Identify services with no payment source and follow up with financial assistance or payment arrangements. Verify insurance eligibility/coverage and obtain necessary precertifications/authorizations when applicable. Collect and process co-payments, deductibles, and other types of payments. Provide cost estimates when applicable. Review charges for completeness and accuracy. Ensure accuracy of all data collected while meeting regulatory requirements. Communicate with external customers such as payers, physician offices, and other departments. Accurately set up new patient records via Care Connect. May be asked to interpret on occasion if qualified. Perform other duties as assigned. Flexibility and transportation to other medical group locations as required. Preferred Qualifications 2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Intermediate computer skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Associate degree preferred. One year of customer service experience preferred. Education Associate degree preferred; 2-year degree or equivalent. Licenses / Certifications None specified. Physical Requirements Sedentary work; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; walking or standing for brief periods; accommodations considered. Pay Range $17.85 – $20.00 per hour.
