Summary This position is located within the U.S. Department of State, Office of Inspector General, Office of Audits, Global Emergencies and Emerging Risks Directorate (OIG/AUD/GEER). GEER plans, conducts, supervises, oversees, and coordinates performance audits, evaluations, and other projects of high-cost, high-risk foreign assistance and foreign policy operational programs worldwide. Responsibilities Performs a variety of editing duties in connection with reports, correspondence, and other written products. Ensures that substantive facts, issues, conclusions, and recommendations are presented in reports in an appropriate manner and provides suggestions for improvements. Advises on the proposed structure of reports, including tables, images, and graphs. Develops and maintains templates used by AUD staff to prepare written products, including templates for multiple types of reports, memoranda, and letters. Provides training sessions to AUD employees on new requirements related to written products. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in writing and editing, including analytical presentations of facts and ideas, to ensure the professionalism of reports and other documents presented to high level government officials. Experience in using desktop/electronic publishing software and other electronic tools used to produce content and finished products. Experience revising and improving written products that articulate, interpret, and explain highly complex, potentially controversial, and important agency policies, programs, and findings.
