AVP, Underwriting, E&S - Primary Casualty

OverviewAmTrust E&S Insurance Services, a member of the AmTrust group of companies, is searching for an experienced and knowledgeable AVP, Underwriting to manage and lead a group of underwriters and assistants for our Specialty Casualty Unit.This individual will oversee activities of our E&S Primary Casualty and Supported Excess Products within designated region. Provides supervision for a group of underwriters who review, analyze, and price insurance coverage for commercial insureds. Analyze various rate plans utilizing claims history, risk characteristics and tailor coverage appropriately based on company guidelines. Gather competitor information, develop, and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers, and develop tools to grow department and underwriting profitability. May require a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or requires equivalent work experience. Familiar with a variety of E&S concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Provide support and coaching to other underwriters and provide leadership for multiple products within the team.ResponsibilitiesManaging E&S Primary Casualty and Supported Excess Products while producing and maintaining a book of business themselvesDevelop workflows and maximize automationImplement procedures to increase profitabilityAudit underwriters to identify challenges, confusion in procedure or guidelines, and need for additional trainingAssist Underwriters in solving more complex underwriting issuesRepresent the Underwriting Department with key company contactsSeek out and develop new relationships with wholesale brokersTrain new staff as neededQualifications7+ years of Commercial Underwriting background with emphasis on E&S CasualtyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsUnderstanding of costs and expensesExceptional Customer Service skills (internal and external), strong written and verbal communication skillsDetermine acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standardsExperience working with wholesale brokerage communityTeam focused with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentThe expected salary range for this role is $131,200-$220,000/year.Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only.
