Platform Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for a top insurance client. This engineer will play a critical leadership role in shaping the enterprise’s cloud and infrastructure strategy, driving modernization efforts, and building the foundational platform capabilities that support high scale applications. This role is ideal for a cloud and automation leader who thrives in architecting cloud native systems, building enterprise-grade IaC frameworks, optimizing CI/CD pipelines, and guiding teams toward engineering excellence. The engineer will also serve as a technical mentor and contribute to multi year cloud migration and transformation initiatives in a fully remote environment.

• Lead architectural strategy for scalable, highly available platform infrastructure
• Drive standards for Infrastructure-as-Code across the enterprise
• Mentor junior/mid level engineers and guide platform best practices
• Optimize and govern CI/CD pipelines for secure, rapid deployments
• Design and implement holistic monitoring/alerting strategies
• Oversee security & compliance adherence across all environments
• Architect cloud native services using serverless & build reusable enterprise IaC frameworks (Terraform)
• Lead cloud migration initiatives, including cost optimization
• Integrate automated infra testing (Terratest) into pipelines

Compensation

$70/hr to $80/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements

• 4+ years in Platform, DevOps, or Systems Engineering in a senior/lead capacity
• Expert proficiency in Python
• Strong experience leading large-scale infrastructure or cloud projects
• Proven mentorship/leadership of engineering teams
• Deep expertise in Terraform or Ansible
• Strong CI/CD pipeline governance and optimization experience
• Experience working in a Google Cloud environment
• Experience architecting serverless and cloud native applications
• Experience developing reusable Terraform modules or enterprise IaC frameworks
• Knowledge of automated infrastructure testing (e.g., Terratest)
• Background in cloud cost optimization and multi-year migration planning
• Experience with Cloud Run or other advanced container orchestration tech
• Prior experience in regulated industries (insurance, financial services, healthcare)
