Physician Assistant (Surgery)

Summary The Staff Physician Assistant position is located at the Wilmington VA Medical Center and operates in an ambulatory care setting within the facility. The Staff Physician assistant is responsible for patient care in his/her assigned area(s). Planning - coordination and exercising professional judgment in initiating and implementation administrative and clinical decisions are integral components of the position. Duties The Surgical Physician Assistant at the Wilmington VA Medical Center operates in an ambulatory care setting within the facility The duties and responsibilities include - but are not limited to: Assists with surgical procedures Conducts daily hospital rounds Writes orders and progress notes Performs admission history and physicals Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests Performs appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies Reviews reports for abnormalities Evaluates and clarifies clinical conditions Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized patients Handles discharge planning and dictates Sees new office patients and completes a thorough history and physical examination Presents the patient to attending surgeons Helps to formulate treatment plans Performs office procedures Evaluates post-operative patients Does routine follow-up visits Work Schedule: Monday -Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm Occasional call requirements possible based on facility needs Telework: Available-Ad-hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized .VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. #J-18808-Ljbffr
