Front Desk Receptionist/Medical Assistant

Metro Infectious Disease Consultants is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant/Front Desk Receptionist to work at the clinic located in Overland Park, KS . This Assistant’s responsibilities include all duties related to the front‑desk and some back‑office. Responsibilities assigned to individuals can and will change at any time at the discretion of management or the supervisor. Front Office Responsibilities Filing all scanned paperwork daily Fax clinic schedules to physicians for the next clinic day Prepare travel chart weekly Open and distribute mail daily Print schedule for the following clinic day; verify that all progress notes and superbills are attached Order office supplies Answer telephone calls, including closed offices at different locations Page consultations to physicians. Page should include consult, hospital, patient name, room number, referring physician, and hospital phone number with appropriate extension Make appointments for new and existing patients according to set guidelines. If the patient is new, directions should be given Handle and process billing information daily Handle and process dictation, letters, and physician orders daily Register patients, enter and/or update patient demographics, make copies of vital information Collect copayments and past‑due balances from patients at check‑in/check‑out desk Coordinate and process referral information for managed care patients Process medical records requests Escort patients from reception to exam room, documenting height, weight, blood pressure and temperature as indicated, document the patient’s chief complaint and notify the doctor when the patient is ready to be seen Obtain laboratory specimens as requested, completing lab requisitions and preparing samples for pick‑up by the lab. Document the same in the Medical Record Ensure superbills are completed at visit end, including visit code, diagnoses and all labs ordered Back Office Responsibilities Escort patients from reception to exam room, documenting height, weight, blood pressure and temperature as indicated, document the patient’s chief complaint and notify the doctor when the patient is ready to be seen Stock exam rooms with supplies each morning, clean rooms between patients Maintain inventory of medical supplies, completing requisitions (order forms) in a timely manner to ensure supplies are not depleted Other tasks as assigned by management Qualifications Must have at least one year of clinical practice experience, preferably in an office setting Must be comfortable with back‑office responsibilities High school education or equivalent Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID‑19 Requests for accommodations/exceptions will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis, consistent with applicable laws.
