Construction Observer

Construction Inspector – Albuquerque We are seeking a qualified Construction Inspector to oversee operations at our Albuquerque office. The role involves inspecting various construction type job sites, including transportation, water/wastewater treatment facilities, and infrastructure projects, from start to finish. Responsibilities Observe and inspect construction projects from beginning to completion. Document daily progress, track materials and quantities, and perform material sampling and testing. Maintain timely, accurate records of project progress and general oversight. Read and interpret plans, details, specifications, and other contract documents. Identify and report deviations from contract documents. Conduct or oversee laboratory and field testing and reports on soils, aggregates, asphalt, and other materials. Provide clear written and oral communication and answer inquiries as required. Attend and conduct meetings to gain insight into projects prior to construction, progress updates, and other related meetings. Measure and scale distances using competent math skills to provide accurate documentation. Qualifications 1+ years of construction experience preferred. Knowledge of typical construction practices and NMDOT specifications. Ability to travel and stay out of town a week at a time for on‑site observation, inspection, and testing. Independent work habits with efficient time‑management practices. Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to coordinate with project stakeholders. Disciplined record‑keeping of daily, weekly, and monthly progress. Experience working with DOTs and understanding their requirements and expectations.
