Certified Nurse Assistant

Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect resident care as defined by certification. The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the necessary information to identify each patient's requirements. Resident's activities of daily living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the care plan and in accordance with policies. This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning, positioning, skin care, and more. Documentation is completed according to protocol. Resident's environment and safety are maintained based on the care plan and in accordance with policies. This includes answering call lights and alarms promptly and maintaining cleanliness of the unit. Behavior and fall prevention measures are taken, and appropriate use of equipment is monitored. Resident's nutritional needs are met according to the care plan and policies. This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, and feeding. Resident preferences and choices are honored, and documentation is completed as required. Resident rehabilitative needs are met according to the care plan and policies. This includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, and proper body alignment. Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are identified and reported promptly. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in Long-Term Care or CNA capacity

NYS Nursing Assistant Certification and BLS Certification
