Sr. Electrical Engineer

Job Duties

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with strong experience in circuit debugging, PCBA design/testing, and hands-on electronic and mechanical troubleshooting to support the development and testing of next-generation medical device technology. This role will focus on prototype hardware management, board-level testing, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of electrical engineering experience and a proven track record of working with prototype hardware, PCBAs, and system-level integration in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute board-level test plans and initial hardware validation activities.

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and determine root causes of hardware and system issues; recommend and implement corrective actions.

• Manage prototype hardware inventory, configuration, and maintenance in laboratory and local test environments.

• Receive, configure, and validate initial PCBAs and prototype boards.

• Perform low-level hardware checkout activities including:

o Ohmic checks

o Initial power-on verification

o Register-level testing

• Debug hardware failures and support technicians during troubleshooting activities.

• Ensure hardware rework activities are consistently applied across all systems and PCBAs.

• Manage software and programmable logic (PL) versions installed on systems and boards.

• Support software, systems, and data acquisition teams in hardware integration efforts.

• Assist with EMC pre-screening and external compliance testing activities.

• Develop and test board-level functionality, including ADC and DAC interfaces.

• Design lab test fixtures and test boards to support electrical and system-level validation.

• Collaborate closely with systems, software, electrical engineering, and external contract manufacturing teams.

• Participate in schematic and PCB layout design reviews.

• Provide technical leadership and direction to technicians following initial board validation efforts.

Minimum Education Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum Experience Required

Required Qualifications:

• 5 to 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.

• Circuit debugging and failure analysis experience

• PCBA design, validation, and test experience

• Strong hands-on electronic and mechanical troubleshooting skills

• Experience working with PCBAs, prototype hardware, and board bring-up activities.

• Strong hardware debugging and root cause investigation skills.

• Experience developing and executing hardware test plans.

• Hands-on laboratory experience with electronic test equipment and prototype systems.

• Experience working within cross-functional product development environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting medical device development programs.

• Familiarity with EMC testing and compliance activities.

• Experience interfacing with contract manufacturers and external engineering partners.

• Knowledge of embedded hardware systems and hardware/software integration.
