Job Summary

Denver domestic relations law firm is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and responsible Family Law Litigation Paralegal to join our team. In this role, you will support our trial team and assist with all phases of the litigation process. You will conduct legal research, conduct initial interviews with potential clients, file documents, and attend trials. The ideal candidate is hardworking and detail-oriented. This individual will assist with case management, e-filing, scheduling, calendaring, drafting pleadings, preparing financial disclosures, child support worksheets, maintenance worksheets, preparation of propounded discovery and discovery responses, trial management certificates, exhibits, and exhibit notebooks. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, have a strong work ethic, and solve problems. learn independently, and have effective communication skills. Punctuality and the ability to take the initiative on routine case tasks are also necessary.

The candidate must be very organized, be able to communicate effectively, have the ability to prioritize tasks, be familiar with the Rules of Civil Procedure, specifically C.R.C.P. 16.2, 45, and C.R.C.P. Rule 121, and other rules are absolutely necessary. and the Uniform Dissolution of Marriage Act. The candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Relaxed, supportive office environment. The candidate must also be well-versed in the typical processes for family law cases, including applicable court rules, the issues involved, and the preparation for hearings.  Experience in filing writs of garnishment is desired.  All applicants should provide a resume, cover letter, and two professional references.  Candidates must be able to start handling an active caseload with little to no training or oversight.

Responsibilities 

• Prepare case-specific documents, including pleadings and draft orders;
• Ensure that case-related documents are well-organized and available for review;
• Understand procedural requirements and the tasks necessary to accomplish them in a timely manner;
• Conduct legal research and investigation;
• Draft pleadings;
• Provide general administrative support; 
• Communicate effectively and constructively with other team members, court staff, clients, and witnesses; 
• Prepare Exhibits and Exhibit Notebooks; 
• Maintain, organize, and update documentation; 
• Assist with discovery requests (preparation and responses)

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of previous experience as a Family Law Litigation Paralegal or a similar role is preferred.
• Certification or an Associate's Degree as a Paralegal is preferred
• Familiarity with legal procedures, terminology, and the court system
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized with document management experience
• Excellent research skills
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office and case management software
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
• Working as part of a team is essential
