Pay range: $30–$40 per hour

Imagine starting your day in the heart of ORD. You log into the CMMS, scan overnight alerts, and head to the ramp. A deice rig needs a hydraulic diagnosis, a tug shows an electrical fault, and a belt loader is due for a scheduled inspection. With scanners, meters, a photo tachometer, manuals, and schematics in hand, you bring critical ground support equipment back to peak performance—keeping aircraft, crews, and passengers moving safely.

What you’ll do

• Execute preventative maintenance and inspections on engines, transmissions, drivelines, suspensions, brakes, and automotive electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals within established timelines.
• Open and close work orders, manage parts usage and inventory, and keep accurate records in CMMS.
• Collaborate with station leadership and teammates to meet maintenance schedules, pass site audits, and uphold safety and environmental standards.
• Conduct spot checks on tools/equipment and sustain a clean, compliant, and safe workspace.
• Share daily status updates on equipment readiness and remain prepared to respond off-shift based on weather and operational needs.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years old; fluent in English for reading, writing, and verbal direction.
• Strong grasp of diesel systems, ground support equipment, fluid types, and diagnostic instruments (scanners, meters, photo tachometer).
• Hands-on repair capability across engine, transmission, driveline, suspension, brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Personal toolkit including sockets/wrenches up to 1 inch and up to 1/2-inch drive.
• Comfort with computers (basic–intermediate), plus the time-management skills to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Professional demeanor with discretion and confidentiality when interacting with clients and colleagues.

Licenses & Coaching

• Valid driver’s license.
• May train and supervise others and provide constructive task feedback.

Where you’ll work

• Active, physically demanding airport ramp environment with extended periods of standing.
• Outdoor exposure to variable temperatures, humidity, odors, and heavy moving machinery.
• At times, high noise levels.

Physical expectations

• General mobility: Extended sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, reaching, and frequent hand tool use.
• Lifting & heights: Occasionally lift/move up to or over 100 lbs and work at heights above 20 feet.
• Sensory readiness: Clear speech and effective hearing required.

Schedule & Travel

• Full-time; minimum 40 hours per week.
• Some travel (domestic and/or international), potentially on short notice, to support operational needs.

Security Clearance

• Ability to obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport Canada, TSA, and/or local Airport Authorities.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background screenings.
