Process Engineer II – Hillsboro, TX (Full Time) Pay Range: $94,100.00–$129,400.00 annually. Eligible for incentive bonus. Position Overview The Process Engineer II serves as a frontline technical leader within the Hillsboro plant, responsible for ensuring stable, safe, and efficient operation of a major process unit generating $50MM–$200MM in annual revenue. This role is embedded in daily plant operations, working closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to maintain the process at target conditions for throughput, raw material utilization, energy efficiency, and product specifications. To support reliable operations, the Process Engineer II establishes and maintains robust systems for data collection, performance monitoring, and routine auditing, enabling rapid identification of process deviations and equipment issues. Through disciplined application of troubleshooting and problem‑solving methodologies—including RCCA, 5 Whys, Kepner‑Tregoe, JM Solve‑It, and Six Sigma tools—the engineer drives timely corrective actions and prevents recurrence. In addition, the role plays a key part in continuous improvement efforts, focusing on optimizing process performance, improving product quality, and reducing the cost of poor quality. By analyzing process data and operating trends, the Process Engineer II identifies opportunities for process optimization and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to implement sustainable improvements. This includes regularly reviewing and refining raw material specifications and operating parameters to enhance overall process capability and plant profitability. Day-to-Day Perform continuous analysis identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions. Manage the quality assurance department including direct management of multiple quality assurance technicians. Develop standard control processes and standard operating procedures. Define the process set points for all different product types and create the associated management tools (e.g., set up sheets in MII, SOPs …). Actively support improvement of safety performance by encouraging safe behaviors of the team and engaging in the process to improve the JM safety culture. Create and maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and evaluate for use in current process and future processes. Work closely with internal and external resources to resolve technical issues, share learnings and findings proactively, and potentially participate in the JM COE’s. Work with multiple operations/functions to identify process improvement opportunities. Provide leadership for process redesign efforts e.g., during rebuilds or major investment projects. Lead multiple projects and process optimizations in a manufacturing operation. May be required to perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science with a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial continuous process manufacturing either as a process or design engineer and 2 years of troubleshooting on manufacturing processes. Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements. Demonstrated problem‑solving skills including complex data analysis. Successful history of innovation and adaptability. Solid project management skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks. Proven results orientation including the ability to lead key projects to successful completion. Experience with DOE for process improvement. Solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to set and communicate expectations to team members. Demonstrated collaboration skills including the ability to interact with a broad range of employees. Proven ability to make timely decisions. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Proven analytical and quality improvement ability. Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally. Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility: may be exposed to environmental conditions including cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc. Benefits Johns Manville offers a wide range of benefits.
