An Optical Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of optical products and providing extensive customer support. Working within a small team, the technician uses specialized equipment such as computers, small manual screwdrivers, and a digital PD meter to inspect, verify, and manage eyewear prescriptions and inventory. This role demands attention to detail and strong communication skills to effectively assist and support patients.

 

Responsibilities

• Perform quality inspections to ensure eyewear meets prescribed standards
• Verify accuracy of optical prescriptions and measurements
• Assist customers with inquiries and product selection
• Manage inventory and maintain accurate stock records
• Keep detailed records of prescriptions and service activities
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot optical equipment issues

 

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in optical technology
• Knowledge of optical measurements and prescription interpretation
• Experience with inventory management
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills to interpret technical details for patients
