Job Summary: Deliver top-quality healthcare services by expertly using ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic images for licensed practitioners. This role extends to performing Computed Tomography (CT) and related procedures to capture detailed cross-sectional anatomical images. Essential Responsibilities:
Work Environment: Varied shifts within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest United States, with a scheduled 37.5-hour workweek.
- Perform CT procedures with accuracy and professionalism.
- Review patient clinical history to ensure proper documentation and alignment with procedures.
- Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal results and ease anxiety.
- Select and follow appropriate exam protocols as directed by Radiologists and departmental policies.
- Position and immobilize patients comfortably to best display the area of interest.
- Apply radiation safety principles to protect patients, self, and others.
- Assist licensed practitioners with interventional CT procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Address patients' physical and psychological needs throughout procedures.
- Perform venipunctures as needed.
- Operate and maintain equipment for contrast administration, patient monitoring, and surgical interventions.
- Administer contrast media and medications as prescribed.
- Evaluate image quality and adjust display parameters accordingly.
- Initiate basic life support when necessary.
- Complete all required computer documentation including patient histories and exam charges.
- Educate patients about tests and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas, restocking supplies as needed.
- Contribute to supply decisions and provide practical instruction to students or healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives, including quality control duties.
- Assist in other departmental areas as required.
- Maintain knowledge of sterile supplies and aseptic techniques used in CT procedures.
- Recognize anatomical structures using computer-generated imaging systems.
- Utilize 3D workstations for image reformatting and reconstruction.
- Manage imaging media release to authorized parties.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology.
- Computer proficiency.
- Experienced radiographer with foundational knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and CT procedures.
- Certified by the relevant state authority.
- Registered Technologist (R.T. (R)) with ARRT or equivalent credential.
- Must obtain or maintain CT credential (R.T. (R) (CT)) within two years of employment.
