Senior Electrical Engineer

As a Sr Electronic Engineer at MKS Inc, you will partner with cross‑functional technical teams to drive designs of new and sustaining engineering solutions that support multiple products and technologies spanning four different product families. Responsibilities Assume engineering responsibility for supporting the Remote Plasma Source, Ozone, IR Spectroscopy and Microwave product lines within the Plasma Solutions business unit. Perform system and board‑level testing to validate that products meet design goals and specifications. Develop, document, and execute design verification testing. Participate in technical teams to review, implement, and refine electronic designs, concepts, and solutions. Report results and recommend engineering trade‑offs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost. Support products in volume manufacturing by troubleshooting problems and conducting failure analysis of returned units. Create and review Design Engineering Change Orders (ECO) as needed to support new product development and sustaining engineering needs. Participate in cross‑functional project teams during design reviews and problem‑solving exercises to achieve product design goals. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in an electrical engineering and/or product engineering role. Proficient with oscilloscopes, high‑voltage probes, power meters, and other test equipment to independently test and debug circuits. Demonstrated experience creating and executing design verification test plans. Preferred Skills Experience with system and board‑level failure analysis. Experience with resonant tank circuits, radio‑frequency (RF) inverters, and DC/DC converters. Experience participating in cross‑functional engineering projects. Exposure to thermal detectors, MCT (Mercury Cadmium Telluride) sensors, thermoelectric coolers, near/mid‑IR filters, interferometers, optics, and mirrors used in NDIR and FTIR spectroscopy. Understanding of vacuum system infrastructure, including MFCs, pressure controllers, and vacuum pumps. Skilled with the design and test of complex hardware/embedded software systems that begin with proper scope, requirements reviews, and concept development. Physical Demands and Working Conditions This position is onsite in Methuen & Wilmington, MA and requires commutable distance to the offices. Relocation benefits are not available. Travel is required approximately 5% annually. Light lifting of bench‑top equipment, sitting and standing during testing, and computer work at a desk are typical. Compensation and Benefits Salary Pay Range: $101,675 – $169,475 per year. Eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage. 401(k) with company match.
