Job Purpose: The basic function of a Home Care Aide is to perform tasks such as activities of daily living and household tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Planning, preparation and cleanup of meals
• Giving bed baths or assisting with shower or tub bath
• Assisting with oral care such as brushing teeth or denture care when the participant is unable
• Providing assistance to and from the bed to a wheelchair, walker, or chair when a participant is weight-bearing
• Assisting the participants with ordinarily self-administered medications (open bottles, get water)
• Laundering clothes and linens
• Making beds and changing sheets
• Advanced Personal Care - Assist with Ostomy Care, assist with catheter care, perform bowel programs, administer non-injectable meds, assist with Insulin set-up, and perform vital signs and weights

Skills / Education:

• Must be 18 years of age
• A minimum of one year experience of direct patient care with either a Skilled Nursing facility or an In-Home Care Agency is preferred
• Must also be able to assist the patient with walking through the use of a cane, walker, or gait belt throughout the facility or client's home
