Registered Nurse - Emergency Position Summary POSITION SUMMARY: This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. * Assesses the patient's condition and nursing care needs. * Sets goals and prescribes appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social and rehabilitative needs of patients. * Develops individual nursing care plans. * Implements care plans and makes revisions as needed. * Evaluates patient care outcomes. * Collaborates with physicians and other hospital employees. * Administers medications, treatments and therapies. * Communicates with patients and oversees provision of care. * Provides patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to condition. * Accurately documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given. Additional Information: * Maintains facility equipment, supplies and work areas. * Assists in the orientation of new employees. * Coordinates and supervises activities of employees and department operations. * Participates in performance/process improvement activities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: 1 year or less Certifications: BCLS upon completion of hospital orientation; ACLS and PALS within six months of hire or transfer date to position. Licenses: Current RN license in state of practice Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, communicate, and react effectively to patient and family needs.
