About the Position

Job Opportunity – PACU RN – Alaska

Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Alaska

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 variable shifts including 0700-1900, 0800-2000, 0900-2100, 1000-2200, and 1100-2300. On-call requirement of 6 shifts per 8-week period. Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period.

• 13-week assignment at a 407-bed Magnet-designated acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center
• 16-bed PACU with diverse patient populations including bariatrics, ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, orthopedics, vascular, and pediatrics
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Patient ratio of 2:1 with daily census of 40 patients
• Free parking provided; scrubs provided by facility
• First-time travelers welcome with minimum 1 year of experience

Requirements:

• Active Alaska RN license required (pending license acceptable for submission; must be in hand for final offer)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of PACU nursing experience with Phase I PACU skills
• Experience with arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition, blood product administration, central line management, IV vasopressors, and ventilated patient care
• Competency in conscious sedation, post-epidural management, and various anesthesia care types (general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, spinal)
• Ability to arrive at facility within 30 minutes when on call (call sleep rooms available)
• Pediatric PACU experience preferred; Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
• Willingness to float to like units within scope of practice
• Commitment to work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
