Software Engineer for AI Model Training

Role Overview
Apply production software engineering expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through rigorous technical analysis, written feedback, and engineering documentation. This remote contract role centers on translating real-world engineering judgment into clear, high-quality input, with no prior AI experience required.
Key Responsibilities
- Explain the reasoning behind technical decisions, including system design choices and their trade-offs.
- Evaluate code samples and architecture proposals, providing written feedback on strengths, weaknesses, and improvements.
- Create technical documentation, including RFCs, ADRs, and design specifications, to clarify engineering approaches and justifications.
- Perform structured code reviews and debugging exercises, documenting step-by-step reasoning and recommended solutions.
- Develop actionable automation-testing strategies and performance-analysis reports that identify best practices and optimization opportunities.
- Communicate complex engineering concepts in concise, accessible language for a broad audience.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience delivering production-grade software with a modern technology stack.
- Strong skills in software engineering, system design, code review, automation testing, debugging, technical writing, performance analysis, trade-off analysis, and clear written technical communication.
- Demonstrated technical-writing experience, such as RFCs, ADRs, design documentation, or substantial code-review commentary.
- Strong analytical ability in system design, performance evaluation, and debugging real-world software challenges.
- Ability to explain intricate technical topics clearly and persuasively in written English.
- Familiarity with automation-testing frameworks and performance and trade-off analysis methodologies.
- Experience collaborating with or contributing to leading organizations or well-regarded academic institutions is preferred.
- Motivation to combine deep engineering knowledge with sophisticated writing ability.
