Role Description: 2nd Shift; The Utilities Technician is a full-time, on-site role located in Nevada, IA. This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant utilities systems, including water, steam, compressed air, and refrigeration to support production of fully cooked meat products. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting meters and gauges, performing routine inspections, identifying issues, and troubleshooting utility and electrical equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The Utilities Technician will complete preventive maintenance, assist with repairs, and follow established safety, sanitation, and food safety procedures. This role collaborates with maintenance, production, and quality teams, communicates status updates and issues clearly, and documents work performed in logs or maintenance systems. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess or be able to obtain Ammonia Level 1 Certification Certification requires passing the exam with a minimum score of 70% Candidates are required to pass on the first attempt or successfully retake it to achieve the passing score of 70% Must be able to read and understand Ammonia Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) HAZMAT certification is required. Must successfully complete and maintain a respirator fit test. Must have a working knowledge of ammonia flow processes. Experience with ammonia control stations and system operations is required A solid background in mechanical and electrical systems as well as specific training in ammonia refrigeration and industrial boiler and HVAC operation is critical. This position requires excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to read and work from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical manuals.
