Principal Faculty, Physician Assistant (PA) Program

Principal Faculty PositionAlbany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Principal Faculty position within our emergent Master of Physician Assistant Studies program. This 12-month position is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, engaged individual to help shape an innovative PA program and prepare aspiring PAs for transformative health careers to solve problems that change the world. The Principal Faculty member will be primarily responsible for teaching and assessment of various professional and clinical topics throughout the didactic and clinical curriculum. The individual will work closely with the Program Director and other faculty members to ensure that students achieve the required program learning outcomes and entry level PA professional competencies. The individual will also be actively involved with student advising, admissions, new student orientation, faculty meetings and committees, and accreditation. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Albany area is a central hub in upstate New York—the Adirondacks, Boston, Montreal, and New York City are all within 3 hours driving distance.Major Duties & Responsibilities:Provide student instruction in a broad range of clinical topics within the classroom, in small groups and in the Physical Exam laboratory.Evaluate student performance in assigned courses and identify student learning deficiencies.Provide remedial instruction in assigned courses.Coordinate/direct instruction in assigned courses including preparation of course syllabus, course LMS site, exam creation and administration, reporting of student performance, and analysis of assessments.Perform student advisement and academic counseling.Assist the program director, medical director and clinical coordinator in clinical site recruitment, evaluation and maintenance.Assists in the development, implementation, and continuous review of the program's curriculum.Assist the program director with program self-assessment, and accreditation maintenance.Participate in student recruitment, admissions and selection processes.Provide service to the department, college, community, and profession.Other duties as assigned by the program director, chair of the Department of Allied Health Sciences, and dean of the School of Health Sciences.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Demonstrate the ability to work independently with little direction and work confidentially with discretion.Demonstrate dedication to the mission of the department and the College.Demonstrate attention to detail.Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrates a positive attitude and work ethic.Interact professionally and effectively with all members of the College community.Demonstrate efficiency by observing schedules and meeting assignment deadlines.Demonstrate willingness to proactively identify and pursue relevant learning and professional development opportunities, and apply new knowledge, insights, and skills to enhance work results.Education and Experience:Doctoral degree in a scientific or medical field.A minimum of three years of experience in higher educationExperience in PA education preferredPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.Additional Information:This position is based in Albany, NY. The duties and responsibilities of this particular role require the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or interaction with our community, requiring all work to be performed full-time on-site. Standard work hours are from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
