Sr/Prin Ob Gyn Sonographer, Part-time

The UCSF Prenatal Diagnostic Center provides comprehensive counseling, screening, and diagnostic testing for fetal disorders. The Center is part of UCSF Women’s Health, a nationally designated center of excellence in women's health, and offers patients the highest quality care and service. This is a part‑time 50% appointment position located at the UCSF Prenatal Diagnostic Center. The successful candidate must be available on weekdays with variable day‑shift hours based on departmental and operational needs. Responsibilities Perform sonography to guide chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis for prenatal diagnosis of genetic defects. Perform sonography to determine normality of first, second, and third trimester pregnancies. Provide after‑care instructions to patients undergoing prenatal diagnostic procedures. Produce quality images following established departmental protocols, including technique, views, positioning, proper labeling, and patient ID. Prepare room and equipment prior to imaging and after completion of the exam. Troubleshoot equipment failures, document, and report to the appropriate individual. Prepare patients for imaging by identifying self, explaining the procedure, and confirming patient ID and order for testing. Participate in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents, and faculty. Perform ultrasound examinations on obstetric inpatients and participate in after‑hours call service for obstetric patients. Meet physical requirements to perform all aspects of diagnostic sonography studies in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including portable exams and assistance with wheelchair transfers. Travel to satellite offices as required. Assist with departmental quality improvement activities and routine equipment testing and maintenance. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrate ability to work with minimal supervision. Assume responsibility for own professional growth, attend staff development activities, and participate in cross‑training when necessary. Attend professional meetings or seminars to stay current within the field of diagnostic imaging. Participate in performance improvement projects and attend required hospital training and in‑services. Use time effectively, conserve supplies, and adhere to departmental productivity standards. Information Management Demonstrate competency in the RGU database and Apex/Epic Health information systems. Demonstrate competency on the related ultrasound equipment. Ensure that clinical data is correct and appropriate for specific procedures being requested. Required Qualifications Two years of college, preferably with courses in physiology, psychology, and electronics, and two years of experience in diagnostic ultrasound technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Successful completion of Senior Sonographer competency checklist. ARDMS board certification in OB/GYN. NT certification through FMF, NTQR, or equivalent required prior to or within 90 days of start date. BLS certification. Ob/Gyn certifications. SPI exam completion.
