Role: Fire Alarm Technician

Location: Travel-based

Work Type: Full-time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician with a minimum NICET Level II or III certification to install, program, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems.

The role requires extensive travel, with travel schedules dependent on project locations. Candidates must be comfortable working in occupied prison and jail facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install complete fire alarm systems, including wiring, panels, and devices.

• Install and terminate fire alarm panels and devices.

• Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on existing fire alarm systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with local, state, and national codes.

• Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm system malfunctions, using diagnostic tests to identify issues and repair or replace faulty components as needed.

• Program fire alarm control panels and devices to ensure proper communication and system operation.

• Conduct fire alarm system testing, including sensitivity testing, battery calculations, and load testing.

• Prepare and maintain installation diagrams, maintenance records, inspection reports, and other required documentation.

• Train clients and building occupants on the proper use and maintenance of fire alarm systems, including emergency response protocols.

• Coordinate with fire departments and other emergency services during installations, inspections, and maintenance.

• Coordinate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) during inspections.

• Ensure all work meets applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• NICET Level II or III certification required.

• Proven experience installing complete fire alarm systems.

• Strong knowledge of fire alarm wiring, panels, devices, programming, testing, and troubleshooting.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.

• Experience performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and system repairs.

• Knowledge of applicable fire alarm codes and regulatory requirements.

• Ability to coordinate with AHJs, fire departments, and other relevant authorities.

• Must be comfortable working in occupied prison and jail facilities.

• Must be able to pass mandatory background checks.

• Willingness to travel full-time, unless a project is available near the candidate's home location.

• Relocation is not required.
