Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Critical Care Float for a night shift stepdown role requiring 2 years PCU/ICU experience and frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units.

Details

• Stepdown unit with frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units
• 21-bed unit caring for critical care patients
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Weekly orientation held every Wednesday
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
• Cares for vascular patients (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, and post-cardiac cath with intervention patients
• Manages CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (no Precedex)
• Provides peritoneal dialysis and coordinates HD through the Dialysis Department
• Manages stable BiPAP, heated high-flow (<80%), and home ventilators (Trilogy)
• Performs wound care and nebulizer treatments

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU, stepdown, or ICU experience required
• ICU experience required due to floating responsibilities
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/peripheral line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high-flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with pacemakers and post cardiac angiogram/cath care
• Wound care and wound vac experience required
• Travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Must float frequently across stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units in accordance with hospital floating policies
• Scrub color requirement: royal blue and white
• Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
• Minimal to no RTO permitted, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Former employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure
• First-time travelers may be considered
