What you’ll do The X‑Ray Technologist is responsible for operating X‑ray and fluoroscopic equipment that assists radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury. Responsibilities Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Protect patients, self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Takes X‑rays following established procedures for patient care and safety; set up and operate radiographic equipment for diagnosis and/or treatment, including infection control procedures. Select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. Adjust and set radiographic controls. Position patients and take X‑rays of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians; check image clarity and retake when necessary; distribute images to appropriate medical staff. Maintain required records including patient records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports. Perform quantity and quality control checks to assure X‑ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies. Comply with safety standards. Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to equipment; determine repairs needed. Maintain radiographic supplies and order as necessary. Qualifications Associate’s degree in radiological technology from an accredited X‑ray technology program. One to three years of experience as an X‑ray technologist, preferably in a medical practice environment. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration preferred. X‑Ray Technician License of Rhode Island.
