We are seeking a Weekend Cook who is a good team player, reliable, and has a positive attitude to join us at Beacon Haven, a small, non-medical nursing facility. You will have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively in our kitchen preparing nutritious meals for our patients. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare meals (breakfast, lunch, and prep dinner) in a timely manner.
• Follow standard recipes with modifications or substitutions from our Christian Science nurses as needed.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a sanitary, orderly, and efficient kitchen according to all sanitation and food production standards including, but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, kitchen surfaces (countertops and floors), and appliances.
• Follow OSHA and Department of Health regulations and alert Administrator to safety issues.

 

Key Competencies

• Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
• Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain personal hygiene.

 

Requirements

• Current Food Sanitation Safety Certificate (if you do not currently possess this, we will coordinate your acquiring it prior to starting the job).
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs.
• Able to work independently but be comfortable with Nursing staff working within the kitchen preparing food for patients.
• Friendly with patients and staff.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
• Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.

 

Qualifications

• Previous experience in cooking, culinary arts, or other related fields, preferred.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to meet deadlines.

 

Hours and Rates

• Saturdays & Sundays 7am-3pm.
• Plus, an option for an additional weekday 7 am – 3 pm.
• $18/hr to $21/hr, dependent on experience, with an additional 8% pay on Sundays.
• This position includes PTO and 401K matching after 3 months.
