Description:
This position involves working in an ICU department.
The unit consists of 21 beds and has a staff of 45.
There is 1 Charge Nurse during the day shift who has no patient assignment, alongside 6-8 nurses.
The night shift follows the same staffing pattern.
Patient ratios are typically 2:1, adhering to ICU standards.
In specific cases, the ratio can be 3:1 for step-down patients or 1:1 for very high acuity patients.
Equipment utilized includes Hospira IV pumps.
The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.
Preferred skills include cardiac experience and CRRT.
Types of procedures performed include intubation, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, vasopressor IV drip titration, and ventilator management.
Care for sepsis, arrhythmias, and medical/surgical critical care patients is part of the role.
Candidates should be team-oriented and possess a good sense of humor.
Mandatory requirements include working every third weekend and one major winter holiday.
Self-scheduling and floating to telemetry and other units are also required.
The unit is recognized for its community-centered approach and has a Magnet designation.
An intensivist is present in the ICU 24/7.
