Animal Blood Collection & Transport Technician

Bio-Techne seeks a technician to collect, handle, and transport bovine and porcine blood from slaughterhouse facilities to processing sites. The role requires strict adherence to biohazard protocols, quality standards, and accurate documentation while working in demanding conditions.

Responsibilities

• Drive to slaughterhouse locations multiple times per week and collect blood following approved procedures
• Set up sterile collection equipment, inspect blood for contamination, and ensure proper anticoagulant mixing
• Safely load, transport, and deliver collected biological materials under specified temperature conditions
• Complete collection records, batch logs, and chain-of-custody documentation with accuracy
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, report deviations or equipment failures, and comply with biohazard standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Knowledge of or ability to learn biohazard safety and sanitation protocols
• Ability to lift 40–80 lbs and maneuver containers over 250 lbs
• Comfortable handling animal blood and biological materials
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures and early morning schedules

Compensation: $27.20 - $37.40 per hour
