POSITION: Lifeguard (Summer 2026) II. DEPARTMENT: Aquatics III. JOB SUMMARY: Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of Club members and guests by providing a safe and clean environment, while preventing and responding to emergencies. Lifeguards are also responsible for maintaining a positive member experience through the delivery of exceptional customer service. IV. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lifeguards must always be ready for any potential risk in the water. Employees are expected to be equipped to react immediately when the occasion arises. You must be prepared to respond to an immediate situation in the pool. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety and maintenance of the pool during the scheduled working hours. Each guard will position himself/herself while on duty so that the pool can be observed while maintaining maximum vision of swimmers. Lifeguards are excepted to maintain a high standard of customer service, extending exemplary service to all members and their guests, including promotion of aquatic programs, such as swim team and swim lessons. Lifeguards are responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the general pool area and are expected to perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility. Each employee is expected to always conduct himself/herself in a professional manner, be courteous and respectful to Club members and fellow staff members. Report any problems to the Aquatics Manger and appropriate Shift Leader immediately. V. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be at least 16 years of age by start date Demonstrates leadership, customer service and decision-making skills Attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of unsafe behaviors Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques Administer First Aid, CPR, and other emergency safety procedures, as required Proficient swimming ability VI. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer VII.
