Travelers will be involved in triage duties within the dedicated triage room. Patients are treated in an intermixed setting; there are no separate holding areas. One safe room is available for psych patients, with sitters provided as needed. A security guard is present 24/7, but coverage may be affected if a call-out occurs. The emergency department treats an average of 35 patients per day. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4. Common diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, lacerations, STEMI, and stroke. The facility stabilizes and transfers trauma cases, primarily receiving walk-in patients. Experience in procedural sedation and common emergency drips is valuable. There is one physician available 24/7, along with one advanced practice provider from noon to 8 PM. Charge nurses, who do not take patients, are on duty 24/7. One certified nursing assistant and sitters are available to assist. Respiratory therapy services are available 24/7, providing ABGs and breathing treatments. X-ray and CT services are accessible, with radiology handling patient transport unless critical. Registered nurses typically draw labs, but phlebotomy can assist when required. Travelers are scheduled based on departmental needs and are encouraged to work consecutive shifts. Weekend work is mandatory, requiring a minimum of four shifts every six weeks. Holiday availability is also necessary if the need arises. There are no call or standby requirements. Travelers will wear any color scrubs. A specific orientation is provided for this role. This position is subject to a radius rule, ensuring candidates are located beyond the specified distance.
