This position supports providers and clinical staff by performing a combination of administrative and clinical duties in a fast-paced healthcare setting. The Medical Assistant plays an important role in coordinating patient care, supporting daily operations, and helping ensure a positive patient experience other duties include, but are not limited to, the following essential job functions:Responsibilities:Assist providers and nursing staff with patient care and clinical proceduresPrepare patients for appointments, procedures, and treatmentsObtain and document vital signs and patient informationOrganize and maintain patient records and medical documentationCoordinate scheduling, testing, and follow-up appointmentsCommunicate with patients, caregivers, physicians, and outside healthcare facilitiesCollect laboratory specimens, including phlebotomy and microbiology swabsPerform EKG testing as directedPrepare exam and treatment areas and maintain clinical suppliesSupport patient flow and help ensure efficient daily operationsMaintain patient confidentiality and follow all safety and compliance standQualifications:High school diploma or GED requiredPrior experience working in a hospital, ambulatory, or medical office setting preferredStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to multitask and work collaboratively in a team environmentBasic clinical and computer skills preferredPhysical DemandsCombination of walking and standing. Heavy lifting, 45 pounds or over and positioning of patients is required. Light carrying under 15 pounds. Pushing, pulling, kneeling and bending required. Frequent reaching, some above shoulders, handling and fingering of instruments and equipment. Talking and hearing for communicating with other personnel and patients. Hearing to distinguish differences and variations of vital signs of patients. Near-visual acuity required to work with a charts and records and to observe patients to detect changes in patient conditions, to read gauges and dials on equipment. Color vision for perceiving changes in patient's skin color, color of medicines and solutions.
