Embedded Software Engineer – Secure CommunicationsLocations: Carlsbad, CA | Marlborough, MA | Linthicum Heights, MD | Tampa, FLJob Type: Direct HireClearance Required: Active DoD Secret (or higher)Compensation: $130,000 - $170,000Work Environment: 100% OnsiteAbout the RoleWe are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a fast-paced team developing next-generation encrypted communications systems supporting government enterprise networks. You will help design and build secure embedded software powering Layer 2 and Layer 3 inline network encryptors, cryptographic devices, and emerging encryption technologies. This role supports the development, testing, and certification of a Next Generation High-Speed Encryptor (NGE) used in mission-critical environments. This is hands-on embedded development at the intersection of C/C++, Linux, cryptography, and secure systems engineering.What You'll DoDesign and implement embedded software in C/C++Develop software for embedded Linux environmentsSupport secure communications systems using protocols like IPSec, MACsec, and TLSContribute to Linux kernel driver development and modificationsWork with microprocessors (ARM, RISC-V, NIOS, etc.)Develop and support standalone embedded applicationsAssist in RESTConf interface design and implementationUtilize emulation environments for testing and validationCollaborate closely with systems, hardware, and test engineering teamsParticipate in Agile development processes and CI/CD workflowsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field5+ years of embedded software development experience in C/C++2+ years of experience working with Linux OS (embedded preferred)Experience using RustBasic understanding of TCP/IP and network configurationObject-oriented development experienceFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum environmentsExperience with CI/CD practicesStrong written and verbal communication skillsUS Citizenship with active Secret clearance (or higher)Preferred ExperienceLinux kernel driver developmentBare metal embedded device driversExperience with ARM, RISC-V, or other embedded processorsExperience with RESTConf interfacesExposure to emulation environmentsExperience with PythonFamiliarity with standalone embedded applicationsExperience working on multi-disciplinary engineering teamsWhy Join?
