Animal Control Officer

This is responsible work in enforcing animal control laws and regulations.Responds to calls of complaints of stray animals which include making contacts with the complainant, identifying strays, and picking up the animal and taking to the Animal Shelter. Cleans and sanitizes the Animal Shelter which includes hosing down the individual pens and the use of a sanitizer. Euthanizes animals by placing them in a carbon monoxide gas chamber or giving them a lethal injection and disposes of the carcasses in an incinerator. Delivers and picks up traps in order to catch and dispose of wild animals. Patrols areas where there are problems with animals. Maintains a regular and predictable work schedule.
Qualifications High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience as determined by the City. Some experience in working with animals desirable. Possession of a valid drivers license Class "C" and be able to perform the essential job functions.Special Requirements High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience as determined by the City.
