University of Toledo seeks an ED Registration Specialist to manage outpatient and inpatient registration functions, including insurance verification, cash collections, and ensuring financial policy compliance while delivering excellent customer satisfaction. Title ED Registration Specialist Location Health Science Campus Hospital, Toledo, OH Job Description The ED Registration Specialist performs complete and accurate registration and admission functions to maximize reimbursement. The role requires maintaining a courteous and caring impression for patients and visitors, communicating effectively to streamline patient flow, and providing high‑quality customer relations. The position is cross‑functional and supports both outpatient and inpatient environments. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service experience. Recent (within 2 years) experience in a hospital or physician office, performing one of the following as a primary duty: Registration Specialist Collection/Billing specialist Check‑in/out Clerk that enters patient demographic/insurance information in system. Working knowledge of Windows‑based computers using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; proficient keyboard use. Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow written, oral, or diagram instructions. Professional service‑oriented relationships with patients, families, physicians, nurses, and coworkers. Customer‑service excellence, including handling confrontation and stressful environments. Analytical skills: calculate discounts, interest, percentages, and basic arithmetic; may be tested.
