2026 Salary Range: ($52,384-$74,589) / Yearly with locality

The primary purpose of this position is To repair, modify, fabricate, remove and install composite or plastic parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies or structures with straight and curved surfaces that have a number of interconnecting parts and components. Maintain advanced composite components, internal and external to the aircraft's structure, and restore low observable systems, sub-systems, and any applicable specialized coatings to their

original level of strength and durability.

Qualifications:

- This may be a designated Drug Testing Position

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical (if applicable)

- The employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include overtime, and/or days, swings, or owl shifts.

- The employee may be required to work during base exercises, contingencies or emergency situations.

- The employee may occasionally travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft IAW Joint Travel Regulations to other government installations, contractor facilities, or other commercial Locations for both training and mission accomplishment.

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. In-depth knowledge of the working characteristics of a wide range of composite or plastic materials, metals, and honeycomb core, sufficient to plan, lay-out and complete repair, modification, and manufacture work on compositor OF plastic parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies or structures with straight and curved surfaces that have a number of interconnecting parts and components.

2. Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics including geometric and trigonometric formulas sufficient to calculate and devise patterns involving straight and curved edges or irregular curves, angles and planes.

3. Knowledge of a wide range of accepted trade practices and techniques related to the repair, modification or fabrication of composite components internal and external to an aircraft's structure, and the ability to restore low observable systems, sub-systems, and any applicable specialized coatings to their original level of strength and durability.

4. Knowledge of safety and environmental standards, regulations, and requirements.

5. Skill in using hand and power tools, complicated measuring instruments such as: protractors, calipers, snap ring pliers, height/depth dials, screw pitch gauges, and the ability to operate small and large ovens, autoclave operations, core and ultrasonic cutters.

6. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, diagrams, sketches and technical specifications.

7. Ability to inspect aircraft surfaces for damage, integrity, deviations and other out of tolerance conditions affecting Low Observable (LO) coatings and determine the type and extent of repairs needed to restore original strength.
