Machinist IV

This role is part of our Hypersonics and Strategic Missile Defense business, which designs, develops, and delivers highly dependable missile systems for hypersonic and strategic missile defense missions. We provide integrated, mission-ready hardware that brings together multiple technologies into unified systems engineered to perform in demanding operational environments. Our tip-to-tail capabilities include payload protection and deployment systems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic interstage systems, separation systems, missile subsystems, shroud systems, launch systems, and payload integration solutions.

The Machinist IV sets up and operates CNC machines to fabricate precision aerospace and defense components in alignment with engineering specifications and customer drawings. This role works independently with advanced machining tasks, supports on‑the‑job training for others, and maintains a clean and organized machine shop environment to ensure efficient and high‑quality production.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates CNC machines to meet production requirements.
• Performs machining and general shop duties such as loading and unloading materials, deburring parts, inspecting in‑process work, assisting with packaging finished parts, and monitoring shop supplies.
• Ensures machined parts meet specifications, drawings, and standard technical process (STP) files.
• Maintains dimensional accuracy and quality in a production environment.
• Uses blueprint reading, shop inspection techniques, and related inspection tools.
• Utilizes measuring and setup tools appropriately.
• Maintains equipment, shop cleanliness, and tooling inventory.
• Keeps machining areas clean and free from scrap and debris.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Typically 10 or more years of experience with demonstrated ability to set up and operate CNC machines and related shop tools and equipment.
• Strong mechanical and mathematics aptitude.
• Proficiency with measuring tools, setup tools, and blueprint reading.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and conduct inspections.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with lathe setup and operation, including Mazak Integrex or Fanuc controls.
• Experience across multiple machining centers.

Physical Requirements

• Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Occasional use of stairs.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
