About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, MOAB, Psych Mental Health Certification per ANCC Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of experience - Traveler experience not accepted for first-time travelers - Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) - Psych Mental Health Certificate Description: This position requires a commitment to working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Travelers may be required to float to other units when needed. No additional time off requests will be allowed after booking. Any call-offs or additional time off could result in a cancellation. Patients will primarily be adults and geriatrics with behavioral health diagnoses and multiple medical comorbidities. Dementia with behavioral disturbance accounts for approximately 60-70% of patients. Additional patient diagnoses include Alzheimer's, depression, anxiety, mania, and psychosis. Some special procedures performed include ECT in a surgical suite. Travelers will need to utilize specific tools and systems, including PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR. The nursing team will manage a patient ratio of 7-1 during all shifts. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various services, including physical therapy and social services. Travelers must be comfortable floating to other behavioral health units or facilities as required. Certifications such as the Gerontology Certification by ANCC are preferred but not required. Candidates should possess skills in crisis intervention, medication administration, and behavior management techniques. Knowledge in managing various mental health disorders, including anxiety and substance use, is essential. Travelers should be prepared to contribute to a collaborative team environment while providing high-quality patient care.
