Shift: Days, 3 12-hour shifts

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist assists during surgical procedures by maintaining the integrity of the sterile field and providing instrumentation to the surgical team. The position functions under the direction of an RN and requires strong knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique, surgical procedures, anatomy, instrumentation, and applicable AORN standards .

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile and aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures.
• Provide appropriate surgical instrumentation and supplies to the surgical team.
• Verify packaging, processing, moisture, seals, sterile indicators, and expiration dates of sterile items.
• Ensure the operating room environment is safe and equipment functions properly.
• Monitor the sterile field for contamination and initiate or report corrective action when needed.
• Work toward or maintain competency with Tier 1 surgical cases .
• Participate in surgical Time Out , including briefings and debriefings.
• Assist with patient transportation, room turnovers, and OR preparation.
• Maintain competency with new surgical technologies, procedures, instruments, and equipment.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Maintain professional communication and behavior consistent with a Just Culture .
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or licensed surgical technologist program.

Licensure

• Colorado Surgical Technologist license required.

Certification

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Additional Requirements

• Working knowledge of English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
