HVAC Service Technician

Hvac TechnicianEssential duties and responsibilities include installing new HVAC units, brazing, line sets, trimming refrigerant and adding charge. Also includes installing piping systems, coils, compressors, condensers, fans, motors, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors. Performing start up, testing and commissioning on RTU's, Air Handlers, VAV's, Fan Coil units, swamp coolers and other commercial HVAC equipment. Testing lines, components, and connections for leaks, brazing and soldering parts as necessary to repair defective joints. Performing preventative maintenance on the equipment such as vacuuming, cleaning, changing filters, and oiling parts.Qualifications include five years of experience in maintaining similar type and size commercial equipment, along with a current Universal CFC certification. Experience with ladders, roofs, and attics. Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Understanding of basic electrical circuits, disconnects, electric valves, low and high voltage wiring. Strong oral and written communication required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision in isolated areas. Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment, and testing devices necessary to perform all work assignments. Valid Driver's license and able to maintain a good driving record. Ability to stand, sit or squat for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, move and carry material up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at extended heights. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). i.e., but not limited to, Dust mask, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection.Compensation Range: $40 - $60 Per Hour The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results. Benefits are provided through local labor union aligned with collective bargaining agreement.
