OVERVIEW:This is a 10-month position. Part-time, 20 hours per week.The Hours our as followed: Monday- Friday 2:30- 6:30pmPosition Summary: The Learning Guide Instructor supports the Earthworks Afterschool Program Coordinator in the execution and enhancement of a comprehensive, activity-based enrichment and academic support program at School 33. This role is instrumental in delivering high-quality, nature-based learning experiences to participating youth.The Learning Guide Instructor is responsible for facilitating engaging activities, educational workshops, and group sessions that align with the program's environmental and academic objectives. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and hands-on learning environment. The Learning Guide Instructor reports directly to the Earthworks Afterschool Program Coordinator.POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Earthworks After School Program Earthworks Programs at the Center for Youth are not seeking a typical outdoor educator. We are seeking gregarious, enterprising individuals who know how to make the most epic outdoor experiences within even the most mundane of environments. Our unique approach to education fosters a meaningful connection to the outdoors through nature awareness, primitive skills, curiosity, community and the mystery of the natural world. Youth in grades K-6 will join us for the experience of "running wild." This program will create the adventure no matter where we find ourselves – gathering resources, crafting tools, navigating the landscape, mastering epic games and challenges, together. Instructors will help craft our nature-based programs, facilitate positive group energy, and keep kids safe and engaged. Key Responsibilities:Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of afterschool program activities and services.Deliver interactive, nature-based educational activities that promote environmental awareness and academic growth.Facilitate group discussions, workshops, and enrichment sessions tailored to the needs and interests of participating youth.Support the creation of a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and other staff to ensure program goals and outcomes are met.Monitor and support student participation, behavior, and progress during program activities.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, engagement, and feedback as required.Participate in ongoing staff training and development sessions.Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator. QUALIFICATIONS: CPR and first aid certifications or Wilderness first aid preferredBachelor's degree with preference given to those with coursework in theenvironmental sciences/studies.Enjoy the outdoor education experience as well as experience working in K-8Classrooms.Must be able to multi-task and coordinate with various stakeholders including,teachers, administrators and other Earthworks staff.Must be personable, reliable, engaged and have an ability to work well with young, school-aged students in fluctuating environments. CULTURAL COMPETENCY:The Center delivers programs and services to youth and families across Monroe Countywho represent many racial, cultural and geographic groups.
