Hotel/Deck Repairman

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Hotel/Deck Repairman will include, but not be limited to:

▪ Always be in close communication with the First Engineer Hotel and take on additional duties to the below as directed by him

▪ The Hotel/Deck Repairman to whom this function is delegated shall assist the First Engineer Hotel with safe and efficient maintenance and repair of plant and machinery

▪ Report any defects or deficiencies immediately to First Engineer Hotel

▪ Carry out repair work for all plumbing, galleys, laundry and any other system as required;

▪ Be familiar with safe operation of equipment and systems in Hotel area

▪ Maintain all machinery and equipment in a safe and clean condition; be available for call out outside normal duty hours

▪ Maintenance of Outboard Engines and Expedition Boats

▪ Maintenance of Leisure/Diving Boats

▪ Maintenance of LSA (Lifeboats/Tenders) and their Davits

▪ Maintenance of Hydraulic Systems and HPU’s (Hydraulic Power Units)

▪ Maintenance of typical Deck Equipment/Installations like: Shell Gates, Provision Lifting Platforms, Marina Platform, Deck Cranes, Mooring and Anchoring systems

▪ Maintenance of Emergency Generator

▪ Maintenance of Fixed Fire Fighting applications like: Hi-Fog, Main Fire Line, Helipad Foam, CO2 (Local and Centralized), Steam Drenching and NOVEC1230.

▪ Maintenance and operation of high pressure BA (Breathing Air) compressors

▪ Maintenance of Resident/Guest and Crew Gym equipment

▪ Be familiar with the Safety Management System and have a full understanding of his/her responsibilities in the Safety Organization as per the Emergency Plan

▪ It is the responsibility of every crewmember to perform duties according to the Superior Officer’s instruction; the work should be carried out in a safe and professional manner, in order to keep the ship’s equipment at the highest level of safe operating condition

▪ Completed Familiarization form according to requirements.

▪ Additional duties as instructed by the Chief Engineer

▪ Be flexible, supportive and proactive. Cross divisional work within Engine Department is part of the duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

▪ Minimum of one year experience in similar job/position

▪ Knowledge of AMOS

▪ Basic Safety Training as per STCW requirements

▪ Experience with Welding Techniques utilized for thin plate stainless steel

▪ Experience with repair of stainless steel installations

▪ Qualified in operation, and usage, of standard mechanical workshop equipment such as; Grinding Machines, Drilling Machines, Metal Saws, etc.

▪ Experience in pipe repairs, fabrication and repair of the most common Non-Metallic piping systems utilized in the cruise industry.

▪ Basic knowledge of USPH Construction Standards

▪ Experience with maintenance on Outboard Engines and Expedition Boats

▪ Experience with maintenance on Leisure/Diving Boats

▪ Experience with maintenance on LSA (Life Saving Appliances) and their Davits

▪ Experience with maintenance of Hydraulic Systems and HPU’s (Hydraulic Power Units)

▪ Experience with maintenance of Shell Gates and Provision Lifting Platforms Experience with maintenance of Deck Cranes

▪ Experience with maintenance of Mooring and Anchoring systems Page 3 of 4

▪ Experience with maintenance on typical Fixed Fire Fighting applications found onboard Passenger Vessels

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

▪ Able to work 7 days a week for a minimum period for extended period of time.

▪ While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

▪ All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.

▪ Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors.

▪ Able to pass basic safety course.
