Project Engineer — Commercial Construction

Location: Wisconsin (offices in Milwaukee and Madison - candidates can work out of either location)

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 + Benefits

A Wisconsin-based general contractor is hiring a Project Engineer to provide day-to-day onsite support to the Superintendent and Project Manager. This role serves as a key onsite point of contact for the project team, subcontractors, and Owner/Owner's Representative, and is a strong fit for someone early in their construction career looking to grow into a Project Manager path.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Superintendent and Project Manager with daily onsite operations, serving as a point of contact for subcontractors and the Owner's team
• Develop and maintain project schedules, site logistics plans, and short-term look-ahead schedules, tracking milestones and critical path
• Maintain accurate as-built documents and review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other project documentation for accuracy
• Monitor subcontractor progress, lead site walk-throughs, and assist in resolving disputes with Owners, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Assist with cost tracking and change order estimates, and help enforce the project's safety and site cleanliness standards

Requirements:

• Experience with another general contractor on commercial or related projects
• Strong project scheduling skills; experience with Microsoft Project a plus
• Ability to read drawings and interpret codes; experience with Bluebeam, Procore, and/or BIM a plus
• Ability to travel to project sites; valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
