Position Description Employees in this classification are experienced LVN's responsiblefor performing a wide variety of patient care activities in anassigned specialty or subspecialty outpatient clinic. Work isperformed under the direction of a staff nurse and/or physician aspart of a total health care team in providing complete evaluationsto patients. Works under the direct supervision of staff nurse orphysician. No delegated supervisory authority; may instructco-workers and supervise them in the performance of specialprocedures. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions,necessitating a high degree of contact with patients, families andclinic personnel. Major/Essential Functions Delivers clinical excellence through accurate administration ofmedications, immunizations, and treatments following providerorders and departmental policies. Communicates with empathy and clarity, ensuring familiesunderstand their child’s plan of care and feel supported throughouttheir visit. Collaborates with compassion and professionalism as a valuedmember of the interdisciplinary health care team- supportingphysicians, advanced practice providers, and fellow nurses topromote seamless, coordinated care. Performs clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs,preparing and maintaining examination and treatment rooms,sterilizing equipment, and ensuring all instruments are ready forpatient care. Documents thoroughly using the electronic medical record (EMR)to support communication, care planning, and qualityimprovement. Responds to patient calls and messages with attentiveness andprofessionalism, following clinic protocols and ensuring timely,compassionate communication. Occasional Duties Cross coverage at the offsite clinic when staffing needsoccur. Required Qualifications Completion of a Board of Nursing accredited program of vocationalnursing. Current Vocational Nursing license in the state of Texasor the attainment of a temporary permit from the Board of Nursingto practice vocational nursing pending full licensure in the stateof Texas. At least two years of LVN experience in a hospital,clinic or community-based environment. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual English/Spanish. Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Cerner experience, EPICexperience.
