School Support Personnel 6-8 - Lunch Monitor

Reports to: Building Principal or designee

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Terms of Employment: Staff - 10 months - Class C with benefits according to the LEA Unit D collective bargaining agreement.

August 31st, 2026 start date. 10 hours per week. $27.39 - $34.18 per hour. Non-benefits eligible position.

Essential Functions

• Provides cafeteria coverage
• Ensures student safety and appropriate behavior
• Cleans tables between lunch periods
• Provide office coverage when office staff take their lunch breaks or as needed
• Provide classroom coverage when necessary
• Assist teachers in preparation of class materials
• Perform copying and laminating
• Answer phones, make phone calls
• May greet visitors
• Perform a variety of related duties as assigned

Education And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in administrative, clerical, financial or secretarial work, preferably in a school environment, working with children; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification and experience.

Must have knowledge of office management principles and practices, and computer systems, word processing and photocopying. Knowledge of child development.

Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with the public, officials and department personnel; ability to work independently in an efficient manner; ability to communicate effectively; ability to maintain a record keeping systems; ability to operate a telephone and standard office equipment; ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner; ability to deal tactfully with disgruntled people.

Skill in operating computers and applicable word processing; excellent customer service skills. Must have skill in dealing with children.
