Job Title : Nursing Support Specialist

Location: Cozad, NE

Department: Nursing

Reports to: DON/ADON

Position Type: Full-time

Shifts Available: 8a - 5pm with on-call flexibility

Job Summary: 

The Nursing Support Specialist provides administrative and operational support to the nursing department and assists the DON and ADON with day-to-day department needs. This position helps maintain organization, communication, scheduling, and documentation within the facility while supporting residents and staff. This is a non-supervisory position and does not have formal leadership or disciplinary authority.

Work Environment: 

Office setting within a skilled nursing facility. 

Responsibilities: 

• Assist with preparation and maintenance of the nursing staff schedule.

• Assist with resident schedules, appointments, transportation, and other resident-related scheduling needs.

• Provide reception and front-desk coverage as needed.

• Answer phones, greet visitors, and assist residents, families, and guests with general requests.

• File, organize, scan, and maintain nursing and facility records.

• Assist with forms, paperwork, audits, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

• Assist the DON and ADON with routine department organization and follow-up.

• Help maintain accurate and organized nursing department records.

• Communicate appropriately with nursing staff, residents, families, and other departments.

• Provide CNA support as needed within the scope of training and certification.

• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the DON, ADON, or Administrator.

• Not responsible for supervising, disciplining, evaluating, or directing other employees.

 

Demonstrate Professionalism:

• Adhere to predetermined work dates and times.

• Attend monthly mandatory in-services.

• Complete assignments in a timely manner as assigned.

• Work cooperatively with other employees.

• Consistently professional appearance.

Qualifications:

• Active on state Nurse Aide Registry or the ability to obtain within 6 months.

• Active on state Medication Aide Registry preferred.

• CPR highly recommended.

• Experience in healthcare, particularly in staffing or scheduling, is highly valued.

• Familiarity with the regulations and practices of skilled nursing facilities is a plus.
