Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License issued by the state's nursing board or multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association, PALS by the American Heart Association Must-Have: Experience with trauma, ability to float to various pediatric units, familiarity with trach and high flow Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medications as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Must have trauma experience and the ability to float in various pediatric units, including acute care, behavioral health, and medical specialty units. Experience with trach and high flow is required. Familiarity with infusion and competency in first-line skills is necessary. May float to lower acuity areas within the NICU only to care for feeder growers.
